Established in 1965, The University of Papua New Guinea takes pride in being the Premier University in Papua New Guinea and the Pacific Region. It is dedicated to excellence and providing quality education, research, and service to the nation.
2015 is the University’s Golden Jubilee Celebration which reflects on its rich history of producing national leaders and prominent personalities, including a Governor-General and three Prime Minister.
Currently, the University continues to serve the nation with distinction in area of academic excellence. As the University moves forwards into the next 50 years it will continue to forge new cultural, educational, and business relationships and strength existing partnerships as it provides higher education opportunities in Papua New Guinea, the Pacific Region, and the World.
These selected stamps feature the University’s unique cockatoo statue, the University Chapel, The Michael Somare Library, and graduating students. All stamps feature the Golden Jubilee logo which has especially designed to commemorate this important occasion.
