PNG Plants 2009 (14th January, 2009)

PLANTS of Papua New Guinea: .................................................................................

Papua new guinea is blessed with great natural wealth. With its diverse and exotic cultures, this land, yet again is complimented with gorgeous flora and fauna too.

Home to a remarkable number of plant Species, papua new guinea continues to enjoy the Fluorescent highlight among the remainder of the dwindling rainforests in the world today.

As foreign plants are introduced to the country, the difference in climate (cooler in the Highlands and warmer along the coastal areas) has over the years welcome them with open arms as their respective distribution status would prove.

Every plant has a usage in one way or another, varying from tribe to tribe. In papua new guinea, plants are categorically used as edible, herbs and the wood for building Materials (for houses, canoes, boats, Garamuts (dug out drum from wood), fencing etc.) Some of the native plants are also found in other continents. The originality of a few are yet to be established.

Post png this year decided to delight it’s collectors with just the surface of the nation’s plant treasure as a subject of its first stamp release for 2009.
